Manjari Makijany is a writer and director based in Los Angeles, United States. She has written and directed several critically acclaimed short films and have worked extensively with various known filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan, Petty Jenkins and Vishal Bharadwaj amongst others. Her vision for storytelling and her diverse film experience, both in India and America, has served as a fertile ground to craft her unique voice as a filmmaker.
For her debut feature film, she decided to make India’s first film on skateboarding in a rural setting with women empowerment as its core theme. She used this as an opportunity to create social awareness about patriarchy and chauvinism, somethings that still strongly exist in the society, especially in Rajasthan.
